What To Expect

Being well-prepared for your Dermatology Consultants of Sacramento appointment will ensure that the doctor has all the needed information to provide the best possible care for you. It will also help alleviate any unnecessary anxiety you may be feeling prior to your appointment. Please take some time to review our Providers page and become acquainted with the doctors. We look forward to your visit!

Scheduling an Appointment

When you call to schedule an appointment please have your insurance information available. At the time of your phone call, we will need to confirm whether we are contracted with your insurance company. If you have a managed care (or HMO) insurance with which we are contracted, you will need a referral from your primary care physician before we can schedule an appointment. If you do not have insurance or are contracted with another medical group, we are happy to see you on a “cash pay” basis. You may also click here to request an appointment.

Insurance

We are contracted with a variety of insurance carriers, including Medicare. You may click here for more information and are welcome to speak our office staff for further assistance. We will submit billing charges to your insurer for services related to your care. Please remember you are ultimately responsible for your medical bills.

Cosmetic services are not covered by health insurance. Related charges require payment at the time of service.

Emergency

During weekday office hours, please call the office (medical assistants’ line) for assistance.

Evenings and weekends, our doctors are on call for dermatologic emergencies only. The office voice mail will advise you of how to reach the on-call doctor. The on-call doctor will not do medication refills, schedule appointments, or address concerns of a non-emergent nature.

Dermatologic emergencies might include a bleeding or infected wound or a severe medication reaction amongst other conditions. If you are experiencing shortness of breath, severe pain, or high fevers, those are referred to an urgent care center or the emergency room.

Prescription Refills

The best way to request prescription refills is to have your pharmacy send the request directly to our office electronically.

We do our best to promptly answer refill requests. Please have your pharmacy fax the information to our office for refill requests. Please allow up to 2 – 3 days for processing of medication refill requests. You may need to be seen in the office to refill a medication. No refills can be given if you have not been seen in the office in the previous twelve months.
